Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) has selected global leading digital banking provider, CR2, to launch a suite of digital banking channels and payment services. This will allow BSB to execute their digital transformation strategy and offer a suite of value added services to their customers via digital channels. The sheer importance of providing dynamic digital banking payments and services has been highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic as customers move away from branches and physical interaction.
With CR2’s BankWorld platform, BSB will have the ability to digitally onboard customers remotely, allowing the bank to efficiently increase its customer reach. The new suite of digital services will give BSB’s customers full access to relevant lifestyle-based digital services such as Person to Person payments and utility payments. The bank’s customers will enjoy an enhanced digital experience as they will be able to access their accounts, products, loans and mortgages remotely whilst being able to track their spending and budgets through Personal Financial Management (PFM), creating a better all-round customer experience.
BSB is committed to enhancing customer experience and allowing customers increased control over their finances through 24/7 access to their financial information. The additional digital capability will empower the bank’s customers to perform transactions, such as transfers or bill payments, quickly and efficiently.

As a state-owned bank, BSB has a specific mandate of mobilising the nation to save, as well as providing inclusive financial services. They have a small network of branches throughout Botswana, with their key branches located in Gaborone and Francistown. However their customer reach is increased through a partnership agreement they have with Botswana Post which allows them to offer their banking services through postal services nationwide network of 120 postal outlets. These new digital channels will allow them to attract a wider client base and tap into the underbanked population in Botswana.
