SWIFT African Regional Conference 2020

09 Dec 2019

We are delighted to announce that the SWIFT African Regional Conference (ARC) will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 21-23 April 2020.

ARC is an annual event bringing together more than 600 leading financial services executives from over 55 countries, across Africa and beyond, to do business and shape the future of Africa’s financial industry.

Covering critical issues

The event provides a unique platform for the African financial services industry to discuss key financial trends and issues from across the continent. The three-day programme is a mix of targeted keynote speeches, interactive panel sessions and practical workshops featuring senior speakers and strategic thinkers from across the industry and region.

ARC 2020 will look at the future of Africa’s financial industry, from the impact of new technologies, value propositions and business models to the opportunities that mass digitisation and data driven relationships present to the financial community.

Senior speakers

Over the years, the conference has attracted a variety of senior keynote speakers. ARC 2019 in Accra, Ghana, was opened by His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana.

Other keynote speakers have included Lesetja Kganyago, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, His Excellency Yoweri Museveni, President of Uganda, Dr. Edouard Ngirente, the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Rwanda and Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry for Morocco, among many others.

In 2019, we hosted a strong line-up of industry speakers including Ade Ayeyemi, Group CEO of Ecobank, Moono Mupotola, Director of Regional Integration at the African Development Bank, Dr Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Dr. Kasirim Nwuke, Chief of the Green Economy, Technologies and Innovation Section at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

Networking & Exhibition

The conference also hosts a large exhibition and networking space where international, regional and local financial institutions, market infrastructures, international corporations and technology partners can meet and do business.

View from ARC 2019

“The African financial industry is looking for ways to collaborate across borders in order to become a bigger and stronger player on the global stage. Bringing together the many markets in Africa requires cooperation between governments, regulators and the private sector to develop common solutions to our common challenges. At Ecobank, we are at the forefront of promoting trade in Africa and believe that events such as the SWIFT African Regional Conference are critical platforms to facilitate this.”
— Ade Ayeyemi, CEO, Ecobank
