Citi cardmembers will have a new way to checkout that feels more like shopping in the express lane. Citi cardmembers will be able to pay with a simple touch within apps and at more than 200,000 stores by adding a participating Citi credit or debit card to Apple Pay.
Apple Pay offers important new security features. When you add a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card. Apple Pay will be available on eligible Citi-branded consumer credit and debit cards issued in the U.S.
“Our goal is to be there for our cardmembers every time they touch, click or swipe to pay – and Apple Pay delivers another easy and exciting new way to do this,” said Barry Rodrigues, Head of Enterprise Payments at Citi. “When using Apple Pay, Citi credit cardmembers continue to have access to Citi’s exclusive benefits – Citi Private Pass®, which gives them access to thousands of live entertainment events and Citi Price Rewind, which searches for a lower price after they buy.”
