Bank M Wins UK Magazine Award

Bank M, one of the youngest and fastest growing banks in the country, gained international recognition after bagging “Commercial Bank of the Year – Tanzania for 2015” award from the International Banker magazine.

The award was presented during the International Banker 2015 Banking Awards event held at the London Stock Exchange (LSE) recently. Bank M, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ms Jacqueline Woiso said the bank was proud to be recognised as the Commercial Bank of the Year for Tanzania.

“We are not going to rest …simply because we have been awarded,’ Ms Woiso said, “this recognition will only increase our desire to provide even better banking solutions to our clients.”

She added: “We are aware that their (customers) loyalty and commitment alone can take the bank to greater heights in terms of growth and profitability.”

Bank M opened its doors to the public in 2007 with the conviction to provide world class banking services in Africa and add value to the clients with customised products and services.

The bank has, in the past seven years of operations, capitalised on its efficient delivery channels and its quality service delivery to capture the business of most of the corporate in the country.

Bank M is ranked the eighth largest bank in term of profitability and balance sheet. Ms Woiso added that the award will encourage the bank to strive for further innovation in its products and processes and continue to distinguish itself by providing banking services of unmatched quality.

Through its banking awards, International Banker recognises the best banking institutions and banking professionals in the Middle Eastern and African regions that have set new benchmarks for performance pushing the boundaries within financial industry.

It distinguishes the institutions that provide much needed capital for economic growth, cutting-edge innovation to improve security and efficiency, intelligent investments to maximise profit and shareholder value.

The awards also acknowledge the top CEOs in the region for their essential contributions as decision-makers within their financial institutions.

Other banks in African region recognised as Commercial Bank of the Year were KCB (Kenya), ZANACO (Zambia), GT Bank (Nigeria), Bank Windhoek (Namibia), BAI (Mozambique) and Mauritius Commercial Bank (Mauritius).
