Christmas Goes Omni-Channel in the US

Recent studies show that there are large gains to be made by retailers who diversify the options available to their shoppers. There has been a major shift to mobile and online shopping and retailers who embrace these trends are reaping the rewards.

With this in mind, many brick and mortar retailers are aggressively promoting their online stores, while traditionally online stores are ramping up their deals and offerings. Amazon has been releasing new deals every 10 minutes since black Friday, and both Amazon and Walmart are offering reduced shipping costs and increased shipping options. Google Shopping Express is offering same-day shipping on Costco orders and Target has expanded its in-store pickup program in an effort to cater to last-minute shoppers.

For those who struggle to decide on the perfect gift, PayPal recently launched a new digital gift card store in order to take advantage of the strong demand for branded gift cards.

Starbucks is also predicting record levels of gift card purchases in the next week. They have embraced the omni-channel model and are offering many ways to give the gift of coffee. Digital gift cards can be ordered and given through the company’s website, iOS mobile app or through Facebook and Twitter in the U.S.
