Exim Bank Urges Increased Access to Financial Services

Exim Bank has urged more Tanzanians to utilize fully services offered by banks and other financial institutions, noting that saving money in banks is safer and the most convenient way of investing.

Exim Bank Tanzania Assistant Manager (Corporate Relationship), Mr Justin Wambali, said people should use banks to save money for their future development.

He was speaking during the opening day of a four-day Tanzania Israel Business and Investment Forum (TIBIF) exhibitions held at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam.

Mr Wambali said Tanzanians needed to start accessing financial services and save money in a safe way and until recently a few people had access to financial services.

“According to Finscope 2009 survey, only 56 per cent of Tanzanians have access to banking services which is not good for an economy such as Tanzania’s. That is why we use a platform like this to speak directly to people who still don’t have bank accounts to do so for their own betterment.

“Apart from that, Business and Investment Forums of this nature are very crucial to us as we get the chance to interact with different people, our esteemed customers and hence understanding their queries directly from them.” Mr Wambali added: “This is also used to showcase our different products.”

Mr Wambali as well emphasized on how Exim Bank believes that ‘Innovation is Life’ and therefore in the process of achieving their goal of becoming the most preferred bank in the banking sector in Tanzania, they tend to put in the market new innovative products.

He reiterated that the TIBIF forum which was opened by the Vice-President, Dr Mohammed Gharib Bilal, will engage many business investment institutions operating in agriculture, mining and financial services.

Other sectors are education, infrastructure (Roads, Water), Construction/Property/Housing, and therefore the bank will have such a great chance to showcase its variety of products.

“This forum has brought together more than 500 business, investors, policymakers, industry leaders and decision makers from various enterprises and institutions of all sizes.

“We also see this as platform where the Exim Bank Tanzania can increase its connections with different people in and outside the country,” Mr Wambali added.
