MCB “Bank of the Year 2019” in Mauritius

MCB has won the “Bank of the Year 2019” in Mauritius title award by the prestigious publication The Banker, a subsidiary of the Financial Times Group. The trophy was given to Raoul Gufflet, Deputy Chief Executive of MCB Ltd, on the occasion of an event held at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel in London on Thursday evening.

This is the eighth time in 11 years that the MCB has won this renowned award. The ceremony was presided over by Michael Buerk, a well-known journalist and British television figure, and Brian Caplen, financial editor of The Banker.

The MCB’s very good year, crowned by The Banker, was marked by great performances and awards. As of June 30, MCB Group posted a profit after tax of Rs 9.5 billion, an increase of 31.3% compared to the corresponding period in 2018.

MCB’s rating was also revised upwards by Moody’s, to Baa2/P-2, becoming the best rated bank of African.

At the end of October, MCB’s Private Banking and Wealth Management (PBWM) department has won the “Best Private Bank in Mauritius” title award by The Banker.
