Global technology company NCR Corporation has secured a significant order from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (“ICBC”) for more than 2,000 NCR SelfServ™ automated teller machines (ATMs) in the first half of 2013. The purchase came from ICBC’s first and second batch ATM central buy order in 2013, which includes a total of 2,146 NCR SelfServ 22 and SelfServ 25 units. These newly purchased ATMs will be deployed by ICBC at various branches nationwide.
By deploying NCR SelfServ ATMs, ICBC is able to deliver improved customer service and higher ATM availability with lower costs. Unique features related to energy and paper use for the NCR SelfServ ATM family help the bank to meet commitments for environmental sustainability.
Since the launch of the SelfServ family in 2008, NCR has achieved volume orders from all of China’s major banks. A growing number of banks have turned to NCR as pressure increases on financial institutions to provide faster and simpler customer transactions. NCR SelfServ ATMs are designed with self-healing technology, enabling them to recover automatically and quickly from “soft” failures with no need for service intervention. This reduces average recovery time from 2 or 3 hours to 15 minutes, and significantly increases ATM availability.
“As the leading ATM provider in China, NCR is proud to achieve year-on-year volume purchase from our key customer, ICBC. We are pleased that our SelfServ ATM has earned continuous trust and recognition from ICBC in making their customers everyday transaction easier,” said Gary Miao, president, NCR Financial Services in Greater China. “There is still a strong growth potential for financial self-service solutions in China as banks are under pressure to increase ATM availability and flexibility to differentiate their self-service banking strategies. NCR is well positioned to help banks to transform their customer experiences.”
NCR has been the world’s leading ATM provider for 25 consecutive years and is the leading ATM provider in China in terms of installed base.
