PalmPay, a leading financial platform with over 30 million users in Nigeria, has launched its USSD code service.
This new feature allows Nigerians to manage their finances without needing internet access. By dialing *861# from their mobile phones, customers can now carry out a wide range of banking transactions.
PalmPay, operating in Nigeria since 2019 under a Mobile Money Operator license from the CBN, offers services like money transfers, bill payments, credit, and savings through its all-in-one financial ‘superapp.’
For those without smartphones, transactions can still be made via a network of over 500,000 Mobile Money Agents across the country. The USSD code enhances accessibility and convenience, especially in areas prone to data network outages.
Chika Nwosu, PalmPay’s Managing Director in Nigeria, reiterated the company’s commitment to financial inclusion. “At PalmPay, we’re bridging the digital access gap, and our USSD service supports that mission. It ensures seamless connectivity for our users,” he said. “Additionally, our USSD platform includes a security feature that allows customers to remotely freeze their accounts if their phone is lost or stolen, adding an extra layer of protection.”
PalmPay has made significant strides in Nigeria, with over 30 million app users and 1.1 million businesses connected via its network of mobile money agents and merchants. It has been instrumental in driving financial inclusion, with a third of users opening their first financial account through the platform.
Recently, PalmPay was listed among the World’s Top 250 Fintech Companies by CNBC and Statista.
With its user-friendly interface, reliable services, and strategies like fee-free transfers and promotions, PalmPay continues to strengthen its position as a key player in Nigeria’s fintech industry.
