PayPal recently announced their Cash for Registers program. The program is designed to help small businesses modernize their cash registers and get their hands on the same powerful selling tools that big businesses use every day. Starting on July 10th, 2013, PayPal is waiving transaction fees for up to $20,000 worth of transactions each month through January 31st, 2014 for a qualified small business owner who upgrades to a modern point-of-sale system by choosing either PayPal Here™ or one of our pre-integrated partners: ShopKeep POS or Vend. Merchants who want to participate need to apply for PayPal Here, be approved and then submit proof of purchase of a minimum of $450 in eligible hardware. Once their submission is approved, the offer will apply to swiped credit card, debit card and PayPal payments processed by PayPal through PayPal Here, ShopKeep POS or Vend.
To be eligible, small business owners just need to apply for PayPal Here, and upon approval submit proof of purchase of hardware to modernize their register at www.cashforregisters.com before September 30th, 2013.
There are two ways for small business owners to start using PayPal in their shops depending on their business needs:
For a simple point-of-sale payment solution that can replace their old cash register, they can just download PayPal Here for iPad®, set up the hardware with their iPad and they’re ready to start taking payments easily.
If their business needs more advanced functionality with accounting, inventory management and CRM solutions, they can select a point-of-sale solution from one of PayPal’s partners, ShopKeep POS or Vend, then link their PayPal account and set up the hardware recommended by our partners.
Moving forward, PayPal plans to extend this program to include more partners, including acquirers and POS vendors, to make this new initiative mutually beneficial to everyone we work with in providing these valuable services to small businesses.
