United Bank for Africa (UBA) has launched its U-Mobile service in Tanzania, which will enable customers to acquire banking services on their mobile phones or electronic devices.
In a ceremony held at the bank’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam on Friday, UBA became the first bank in Tanzania to have its mobile services accessible in two different platforms, which is via Mobile App downloaded to the phone, catering to those with smart phones and also accessible through USSD code format, which will be available to all subscribers through the code *150*70 hash.
With the introduction of its UMobile, UBA will offer its clients easy access and management of their funds and through this that the bank will offer more than 14 services, among which include Easy Fund Transfer, Account Management, Airtime top up, payment of utility bills such as LUKU, DSTV and purchase of tickets, among other services.
“We are pleased to bring U-Mobile service to Tanzania as a mobile banking product in form of an application, as we aim to provide our clients with innovative and easy access solutions to management of their funds and handling the day to day transactions on real time basis,” said the UBA Tanzania Managing Director, Demola Ogunfeyimi.
He said that the new service will allow UBA mobile banking subscribers in Tanzania to access their bank accounts on their mobile phones or electronic devices and do a number of transactions while on the move anywhere and anytime.
Reflecting the bank’s determination, the UBA Tanzania Chairman, Retired General Robert Mboma, said during the unveiling that the U-Mobile platform is accessible real time once the customer has enrolled and can be used to access numerous services.
“The bank is committed to provide and maintain unique high class product and service level offerings for all classes and types of customers regardless of the income or business,” he said.
On his part, the UBA Tanzania Head of Products, Julius Konyani said that the bank has put in place measures to ensure their customers account details and information is kept safe and secure.
He added that the bank has a dedicated support team who are tasked in management of U-Mobile banking operations and provide support 24 hours a day, and seven days a week.
