Airtel Networks Zambia Plc, a telecommunications service provider in Zambia and Nico Insurance Zambia Limited, have signed a partnership agreement that will enable customers to pay for their insurance using Airtel Money.
From today, Airtel customers will be able to pay for their Insurance to Nico Insurance Zambia Limited using their “Airtel Money” accounts.
This partnership is a reflection of the synergies that exist between insurance companies and telecommunication companies across Africa, in providing an exciting and convenient consumer experience.
“Airtel Money is an easy to use, versatile and exciting service which is password-protected through state-of-the-art security systems”, says Airtel Managing Director Ms. Charity Lumpa.
Airtel Money is a mobile money platform which allows its customers to make payments and other non-cash transactions quickly and easily. It has been widely adopted by corporate, government and individual customers for the purchase of airtime, Person-2-person cash transfers and utility bill payments.
“We are confident that this system will improve efficiencies and lower the cost of doing business. The more payments are processed electronically, the less spend on paper which Airtel Money seeks to encourage in the country,” said Ms. Lumpa.
She further said “Airtel Money customer base has reached 1.8 million with 800 million agents countrywide and half a million transactions on a monthly basis.”
She added “Airtel Money likes to be at the forefront of new ideas and technology, and is constantly looking for ways to improve its customer experience. This is demonstrated by Airtel being the first telecommunication company in Zambia to offer a mobile payment option.”
Speaking at the same function, Nico Insurance Zambia Limited, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Titus Kalenga said “We are living in a time when consumers of goods and services do not have to cover long distances to deposit or withdraw money as technology has simplified their lives by using their mobile phones.”
He added “Nico insurance is providing a 10% discount on motor, home, household goods, personal accident and liabilities insurance to all customers on Airtel Money and up to 15% discount for Airtel Premier Customers.
