Mopay, a provider of payment solutions for online merchants, has announced a strategic partnership with Telenor, a leading telecommunications operator in Scandinavia and one the world’s ten largest network operators. Based in Norway, Telenor has nearly 34,000 employees worldwide, managing mobile operations in 12 international markets.
mopay is one of the first companies to be connected to Telenor’s billing platform, which allows small purchases to be charged directly to the buyer’s phone bill. The partnership presents a new opportunity for mopay customers to charge purchases of digital goods of more than 150 million Telenor subscribers around the world. mopay also benefits from Telenor’s systematic and strategic orientation towards emerging markets, such as Pakistan, Thailand and Malaysia.
“Telenor is continuing to build on its position as one of the world’s top network operators through rapid expansion into some of the most dynamic markets today,” said mopay CEO Ingo Lippert. “The partnership with Telenor offers tremendous potential, both for us and our customers, to reach new, fast-growing communities of consumers around the globe.”
“Value-added services are a central component in our strategy to deepen relationships with current subscribers while establishing Telenor as a preferred provider in new markets,” said Magnus Johansson, Head of Operator Billing of Telenor Digital, Norway. “mopay offers a strong complement to our business with a convenient payment option that is very attractive to consumers and is supported by a wide network of high-caliber companies.”
