Security transportation firm Brink’s Nederland announced that it will start filling and maintaining Rabobank ATMs in the Netherlands again with immediate effect. In the coming days a growing number of Rabobank ATMs will come back into operation. It will take about a week before all services return to normal.
The strike by Brink’s staff started on the morning of Saturday 27 December. As a result 710 of the 2,300 Rabobank ATMs went out of service.
Major logistical operation
‘The good news is that our ATMs will once again be fully operational for our customers and other users. Replenishing and servicing our 2,300 ATMs in the Netherlands is a major logistical operation based on protocols which focus on quality, costs and security’, says Jeroen Verrijdt, Director of Payments and Savings at Rabobank. ‘Given that this logistical operation has been at standstill for a few days as a result of the Brink’s industrial action, we expect that it will take a week to catch up with all the backlog and get everything running again.’
Unions: staff return to work
Brink’s stated that service provision to Rabobank will be resumed in its entirety following the announcement by the trade unions that Brink’s staff want to return to work. The Rabobank has again committed to do all it can to facilitate discussions between the directly affected parties: Brink’s, the trade unions, Geld Service Nederland (GSN) and the sub-contractors of GSN. Verrijdt: ‘Rabobank wants to ensure that customers will no longer be inconvenienced by the conflict between Brink’s and the unions. Which is why we want to help bring the parties back to the table again, with the aim of exploring options for the Brink’s staff involved.’
