Standard Bank Group has appointed Mr. Tau Mashigo as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective 1 April, reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Mashigo will drive and support Standard Bank’s strategic intent to become a fully digital organisation and assist in the transition to Cloud technology. The digitisation and data strategy will see Standard Bank Group rapidly introduce innovation and changes in line with the customers’ increasing preference for convenient digital, over traditional channels.
In addition, he will be a standing member of the IT Executive Committee and play a leading role for the Group by building and maturing technology capability, driving stability and platform health, affordability of technical operations. He will lead a team of Information Technology professionals steering investments in Group IT Shared Services.

Mashigo, joins Standard Bank Group from the South African Revenue Services (SARS) where he spent 12 years, with his most recent role being that of Group Executive, Service Delivery: Digital Information Services and Technology. His career spans 28 years in a variety of leadership roles at JCI, Accenture and SITA.
Academically, Tau completed a SITA EDP Program from GIBS, a UNISA School of Business Leadership Program on eCommerce, various ICT and business diplomas and is currently studying towards an Executive MBA at UCT Global School of Business. As part of Tau’s accolades, he has written various papers, presented at various conferences both locally and internationally, and has been part of Ministerial and Mayoral advisory committees.
He has also served on the boards of Interfrontier Technology Solutions, Sentech (Pty) Ltd and on the global steering committee for Commonwealth Connects Program, under whose association he attended programs on Legal Frameworks in ICT in Malta, CIO Executive Development program in Canada, eCommerce and eBusiness strategies in Singapore.
