FIS, a global leader in banking and payments technology as well as consulting and outsourcing solutions, announced its readiness to support merchants in accepting Apple Pay.
FIS currently secures and processes all card payments – including debit, credit and contactless – for Costa. It also supports Apple Pay – which Apple describes as an easy, secure and private way to pay – in the UK.
Consumers and merchants benefit from the security and privacy that is at the core of Apple Pay; card numbers are not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, which is encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorised with a one-time, unique dynamic security code.
“The launch of Apple Pay is an exciting development for the UK payments industry, building on existing contactless infrastructure and allowing customers to adopt Apple Pay in a wide range of stores,” said Simon Dickinson, managing director, FIS Retail Solutions. “FIS is committed to making it as easy as possible for retail clients such as Costa to accept Apple Pay alongside existing payment forms, so that they can offer their customers maximum choice and flexibility.”
TRANSAXpay is Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) certified; and FIS offer both standard encryption-based services and Point to Point Encryption (P2PE) certified solutions to help retailers to meet the demands of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) in the fast moving payments landscape without placing huge demands on retailers’ IT operations.
“In addition to helping process transactions, FIS has updated the display screens on our Pin Entry Devices in our stores, ensuring the Apple Pay mark is clearly visible so that our customers know Apple Pay is accepted at Costa,” said C.J. Bobrowski, IT director, Costa.
Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards. In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch. For more information on Apple Pay, visit: www.apple.com/uk/apple-pay/.
