ROAM, an Ingenico company and the leading mobile commerce platform provider, announced today that its RP350x Chip & Sign Mobile Card Reader is among the first to be certified as Visa Ready. The RP350x can accommodate legacy magnetic stripe credit and debit cards as well as newer EMV chip-based cards. Now merchants can leverage EMV as part of its mobile point of sale solution and benefit from lower processing fees and better security. By adopting the Visa ready RP350x from ROAM, merchants can process payments in both ways and be ready for the October 2015 liability shift from card issuers to merchants’ acquirers.
ROAM sells the RP350x reader via its global network of acquirers, financial institutions, independent sales organizations (ISOs) and payment service providers (PSPs). Due to that extensive network, ROAM believes it will soon have more mobile readers out in the hands of merchants than any other vendor.
The Visa Ready Program paves the way for mobile device manufacturers, technology partners, mobile network operators, and others to easily navigate the complexities of the payments ecosystem, and to gain access to Visa IP, licenses and best practices. “The ability to label our readers ‘Visa Ready’ gives our channel partners and their merchant customers added confidence that the card reader they have chosen is safe, secure and compliant,” said Ken Paull, CEO of ROAM. “We’re proud to be among the first vendors to have earned this certification and ship one of the first Visa ready chip and sign mobile card readers.”
ROAM’s technology powers mobile point of sale (mPOS) solutions for some of the world’s largest retailers, acquirers and PSPs, including companies like iPayment, Groupon, TaylorMade-Adidas and Vantiv. ROAM provides its customers with everything required for a complete end-to-end mPOS solution, including the card readers, mobile applications, management and development tools, as well as professional services for custom integrations and white labeling.
