Conduit Partners With Onafriq for Stablecoin Payments

Conduit, a leading cross-border payments platform powered by stablecoins, has announced a strategic partnership with Onafriq at the Africa Fintech Summit.

Onafriq is Africa’s largest digital payments network of networks, connecting more than one billion mobile money wallets and 500 million bank accounts across over 40 African countries.

The partnership marks a significant milestone for both companies as they work toward expanding access to faster, more interoperable payment infrastructure across the continent. With demand rising for real-time settlement and efficient foreign exchange options, the collaboration reflects a growing shift toward stablecoin-enabled payment flows as a practical solution for cross-border trade and treasury operations.

Onafriq is partnering with Conduit to help accelerate its vision of real-time, interoperable trade across African currencies, supported by programmable payments that can settle nearly instantly. Founded in 2010, Onafriq has built a robust payment infrastructure that enables a wide range of services including cross-border payments, collections, card issuing and processing, agent banking, as well as FX and treasury services. Over the years, the company has positioned itself as a key player in driving Africa closer to a more seamless and integrated financial ecosystem. Today, it is seeing increasing demand from merchants and businesses seeking stablecoin payment solutions to address longstanding inefficiencies in cross-border transactions.

Through the partnership, Conduit will integrate its global stablecoin-powered network with Onafriq’s extensive payment rails across Africa. This will significantly expand Conduit’s footprint in the region while strengthening Onafriq’s ability to provide more efficient global payment flows. The collaboration is expected to improve access to local payment methods for merchants and enterprises, supporting the infrastructure needed to drive wider adoption of digital payments and stablecoin-enabled transactions across the continent.

A key advantage of the partnership is that Onafriq will be able to leverage Conduit’s infrastructure to more easily onramp payments in USDC, manage global treasury operations through stablecoins, and execute same-day payouts into multiple markets. This is particularly relevant in African payment corridors where traditional settlement mechanisms, including SWIFT, can take several days to complete transactions. Faster settlement not only reduces costs and liquidity pressure for businesses, but also strengthens trust and reliability in international trade.

“Onafriq is a global poster child for the impact a fintech can have in a developing market, offering fast, reliable, and accessible money movement in Africa, which has not been served well by traditional banking options,” said Kirill Gertman, co-founder and CEO of Conduit. “Their impact is clear, and it can only be amplified by the power and potential of stablecoins. It is exciting to see a company of their scale recognize this, and we look forward to supporting their vision.”

Conduit launched its cross-border stablecoin payments platform in 2023 and has since seen strong traction in Africa. According to the company, the number of African customers transacting on its platform grew by 80% between Q3 and Q4 of 2025, reflecting growing interest in stablecoin solutions for cross-border payments and treasury management. The partnership with Onafriq builds on this momentum and positions Conduit to deepen its role in supporting Africa’s rapidly evolving payments landscape.

“Conduit’s infrastructure will help us move toward streamlining our global treasury management through stablecoins and drive faster payouts for our customers,” said Luke Khohere, Onafriq’s Group Chief Product and Innovation Officer. “Onafriq is focused on building a foundation to power more seamless payments across all of Africa, and we believe stablecoins represent a massive stepchange in what is possible.”

As Africa continues to experience strong growth in digital payments, mobile money adoption, and fintech innovation, partnerships like this highlight the increasing role of stablecoins in solving cross-border friction. By combining Onafriq’s extensive local reach with Conduit’s stablecoin-powered infrastructure, the two companies aim to support faster settlement, improved liquidity management, and more efficient payment flows that can help unlock new opportunities for trade and financial inclusion across the continent.
